Disclaimer
THE NON-DISCLAIMING DISCLAIMER
We are not a hospital, a pharmacy, a veterinary practice, or a licensing body.
We are people who went looking for knowledge that was written down, relied on for generations, and then quietly allowed to fall out of print. A good deal of what sits in this library is older than the industries that replaced it, and it kept households fed, warm, and well long before those industries existed.
The simple fact is that we don't disclaim what the library contains. We publish these texts because the knowledge in them worked, and because losing it would be the real risk.
The other simple fact is that knowledge doesn't do your thinking for you. What you make of it, and whether you're ready to, is yours to judge. If you use it well, we're glad. If you use it badly and go looking for someone to blame, look in the mirror.
The law requires that we tell you we are not providing medical, veterinary, legal, financial, or any other form of professional advice upon which you should or can rely.
So there, you've been told. Rely on it, don't rely on it, print it and ceremoniously burn it whilst toasting marshmallows. It's your choice and your responsibility. It always has been.
WITH GRATITUDE!
THIS IS THE OTHER DISCLAIMER. THE TYPE YOU'RE MOST LIKELY USED TO. YOUR CHOICE STILL WHICH ONE YOU WANT TO RELY ON; OR PERHAPS JUST BE ACCOUNTABLE AND RELY ON YOURSELF!
Disclaimer
This disclaimer (“Disclaimer”) applies to all content, texts, courses, sessions, and materials provided by The Ark of Forgotten Knowledge (“we”, “us”, or “our”) through arkofforgottenknowledge.com, the library, our video and audio episodes, and any other means of communication. By accessing or using any of it, you agree to be bound by this Disclaimer.
Not Professional Advice
Everything The Ark of Forgotten Knowledge publishes is for general information and education. It is not professional advice, and it is not a substitute for an assessment of your own circumstances by someone qualified to make one. While we take care over what we publish, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or suitability of the material for any particular purpose.
Health, Food, and Practical Safety
A large part of the library is practical: remedies and preparations, food growing, preserving and canning, animal husbandry, sanitation, water, fire, tools, and off-grid systems. That material carries real, physical risk if it’s applied without judgement.
Plants and preparations act on the body, and acting on the body is never risk free. Some are unsuitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, some interact with medication you may already be taking, some are unsafe for children or at doses appropriate for an adult, and some are dangerous if a plant is misidentified. Preserving and canning carry a genuine risk of food-borne illness when a method or a processing time is not followed properly. Livestock, power tools, fire, and structural work carry the risks they have always carried.
Where a book in the library states a caution, a dose limit, a processing time, or a temperature, it’s there because it matters. Treat those as the floor, not as a suggestion.
If you’re unwell, pregnant, treating a child, managing a diagnosed condition, or taking prescribed medication, get advice that accounts for your own situation before you act. There are people who do this for a living, and the choice of whom to ask is yours: a herbalist, a naturopath, a nutritionist, a midwife, an acupuncturist, a practitioner of Ayurveda or of homeopathy, or a healthcare professional.
We publish this knowledge because we think you’re capable of using it. That is not the same as telling you it’s without consequence.
Emergencies
Nothing in the library is written for an emergency, and nothing in it should delay you getting help in one. If someone is seriously hurt, struggling to breathe, bleeding heavily, unconscious, or getting rapidly worse, get emergency help immediately.
Legality Varies by Where You Are
Some practices described in the library are restricted, regulated, or prohibited in some places and entirely ordinary in others. Raw milk, home slaughter, foraging, water capture, burning off, keeping certain animals, and building without approval all fall into this category. What’s lawful where a text was written may not be lawful where you are. Checking that is your responsibility, not ours.
Historical Texts Are Historical
Much of the library is old by design. That’s the point of it. It also means some texts contain methods, materials, or assumptions that have since been shown to be unsafe, or that relied on substances no longer available or no longer legal. We publish them as recovered knowledge, not as vetted instruction, and we edit for safety where we can. Read them with the same judgement you’d bring to any account written in another century.
No Guarantee of Results
Any example, account, or result described on the site or in the library is not a promise that you’ll achieve the same. Outcomes depend on your circumstances, your skill, your materials, your climate, and a great deal else outside our control.
Use at Your Own Risk
Your use of anything provided by The Ark of Forgotten Knowledge is entirely at your own risk, and it’s your responsibility to satisfy yourself that a method, product, or piece of information suits your specific situation before you rely on it.
Third-Party Content and Links
Our services may link to third-party websites, content, or resources. The Ark of Forgotten Knowledge does not endorse, guarantee, or assume responsibility for any third-party content, products, or services. Your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms and policies.

You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or use any of it without our express written consent. Where a work in the library is in the public domain, that work’s own status governs it rather than this clause.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Ark of Forgotten Knowledge and its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, partners, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from

- any content obtained from the services; and
- unauthorised access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content,
whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been informed of the possibility of such damage.
Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
